Dark Days, Dark Beers
Saturday, Nov 6
Burlington, VT
We brewed up an epic after hours takeover of Switchback, complete with private brewery tour, wood-fire cooking, and candlelit dining between tanks on the very last day of Daylight Savings!
It started at a VIP entrance around back where we greeted the party-goers with glasses of beer at the ready to cheers to the setting sun. From there we descended into the darkened brewery for a guided tour on the process from grain to glass, including a pour of the OG ale right off the brite tank.
While half the group toured the other half partied inside a ‘room’ made of the stacks of cans waiting to be filled--our adventurous spirits were rewarded with oysters on the half shell and pours of oyster stout (!!!), amongst other treats.
After everyone enjoyed their tours, corn hole games, and the can room delights, we settled into a long table covered in candles, squeezed between the behemoth fermenters and brite tanks of Switchback. We were honored to have James Kitchens of Bar Antidote--fresh on the VT scene from top spots in Atlanta--cooking up a wood-fired Scandinavian feast.
